My 10 month old motoming was stolen today and i was quite happy with it. I have 2 very good cameras so i am not dying for a camera phone...what i want is a good quality screen, should be very customizable, and have good music playback. Which phones would you suggest i go for?
The options within an 11k budget are HTC P3400i, MotoROKR E6, and again the MotoMING.
if there are any others i am not aware of them. All the abovementioned phones are less than 10k in the market legally. so, what would you guys suggest?? HELP!

E6 lacks 3rd party apps. it's a superb touchscreen phone, rigidly built, superb battery life.

Check these too

HTC 3350
HTC 3400
HTC-S710

^^ tu phir se aaa gaya??

Linux phone doesn't mean that it's the king!!!

yes. it's a linux phone.

If you buy the latest build, it comes with a firmware for which very few apps work.

In total there are some 20 apps written for this phone. Compare that to hundreds of apps for symbian and winmobile phones.

People praise it because what it does, it does with perfection.

but.

you don't get divx player for this phone. the new firmware is unable to play mplayer and xmms player designed for this phone. And hence, you have to stick to tinny real player that comes in the phone.

from what i heard in another forum..yea....

but i thght it was for 12.5~13k...

but HTC's bane is 65k color screen... all HTC's ..since Win OS only supports that

^^me too vote for P3400.

HTC Touch is more of a headache with it's slow and buggy user interface. P3400 is much better.

thanks for all your suggestions, and i have used the ming and the ming and rokr are essentially the same, so yes it has very little customizable options.
but still the ming was a darn good phone. i had dropped it quite a few times and it gave me no trouble at all.
now there is one confusion with the htc p3400i- the reviews say its windows mobile 6.0 and 256k color tft screen
whereas the htc indian website is listing it as windows mobile 5.0 and only 64k color screen.
can anyone clarify this? the screen res i can see would be a problem.
but processor wise and ram wise i think the htc is much better than the moto phones, it has to be, its running a more demanding OS.
again, thanks for the the suggestions, i will be waiting for a stronger verdict and the clarifications.

^^ it's win mobile 5 + 65k color screen.

If you likde motoming very much, wait for Motorola ZN4

All Windows Mobile phones have 65K colour screens which is the limitation of WinMo itself although the phones are actually capable of displaying 256K.
Regarding Operating System - You can easily upgrade it to WM6.1 yourself - either through official release from HTC or by ROM released by various developers - check XDA-developers forum for that.
I had purchased one HP Ipaq 6828 which is WM5 - and HP never published an upgrade. But still I'm running WM6.1 - courtesy XDA-developers forum.
Hat off to the developers there.

So if your budget is strictly within 10k go for HTC P3400i - around 9K.
Else go for Touch or HTC P3350 (Love) - both around 13 -13.5 .
You can also try ASUS p527 - lots of feature (GPS)- there is a deal at Indiatimes by 1stwholesellers for 13K including shipping. But resale value and support for ASUS phones will be a problem.

thanks for your suggestions guys, i greatly appreciate your help. Today a friend of mine kept advising me that a touchscreen phone would conk off within a year and so i forced myself to look at non touchscreen options...(i have avoided slider phones cause i have seen how bad it can become after one hard knock)
And i noticed a few phones well within 10k
all of them seem to have decent reviews. the lg dynamite kg320 is only around 7k and it has a 3mp camera too!
the nokia expressmusic 5310 has a great screen and its still less than 10k
and finally fly E 105 this is only 8.3k and its a touch screen phone with a 3mp camera with flash.the config is impressive, but i have no idea how fly phones are.Anyone who has used them? and i know its not a windows mobile phone. so what OS is it running?
not that i am in dire need of a camera, thats a secondary priority. what i would truly like, is a phone with a great screen and a universal headset jack..which narrows it down to only the rokr and the 5310...but still i am open to suggestions.
till now the most ideal phones seem for me to be the motorokr, and the HTC Gene P3400i as far as touchscree phones go,but i keep hearing nightmare stories about htc phones having problems with service, parts and viruses. HELP PLEASE! ONLY 36 hours before i go to buy.

i seem to have dragged on this discussion for what seems like eons, and if i have wasted any of your time , then i apologize and let me say again, i greatly appreciate your help.

All WM phones will have problems of virus if not used carefully. I've also heard regarding bad service of HTC. Also stay away from Fly.
In the range of 11K there is not much option of touchscreen phones.
You can look at Asus P320 also @around 12K else buy a 2nd hand phone or drop the idea for a touchscreen and go for a Nokia Symbian phone - u'll get a good one in ur budget.

so if i go for a non touchscreen phone then the best option is the nokia 5310? the 5310 and the rokr are the only ones below 10k that has a universal 3.5mm headphone jack right?
and if i still opt for touchscreen the motorokr e6 still seems to have everything i was looking for-3.5mm jack, touchscreen, 2mp cam, and linux os which makes it more secure.

touchscreens going kaput after a year is absolute bullshit.

Don't even think of 5310. It will be in top 10 list of buggy phones.

For near 12k check these:

1) Samsung i450
2) Motorola Razr2
3) Sony Ericsson W580i
4) Nokia N73
