Tips to lessen customs duty

Hey please tell me if my dad brings a phone 400$ Will he have to pay any duty for it. 2 years back he brought iPad without any customs not sure of current rules and heard few people saying their nexus 4 bought from abroad had to pay customs.

i think its better to take the mobile out of the box while smuggling

Check the baggage rules. Free allowance depends on the number of days spent overseas.

Best option is to keep a gadget without its box.
