Finally I am getting my personal lappy on 15th of next month.. :D

My budget is strictly below 40k

    Requirements are

    Good Battery Life
Looks does not matter as long as they do not effect the convenience of working
Need to run Windows 7 (am I asking for more? :-|)
    Casual gaming
Music + Display should be good
I will be running some very resource using software so good config is also necessary..

Which is the best package for my needs?

    Thanks in advance

EDIT: I will try not to get any OS preinstalled to avoid cost of the OS so please keep that in mind :))

Dell Studio 15. Slightly over your budget though.

Dell Studio 15 starts from 42-45k AFAIK.

Dell Inspiron 15 is good for the budget.

yep. Dell Inspiron 15 is great choice for 40k and also check Acer Aspire 5738 which is much better deal. it has better keypad and touchpad when compared to inspiron.

I bought an Acer 5536 .. Great performance Only battery life sucks cos I got an Athlon X2 processor ... Overall very happy ... Comfortable keypad , brilliant screen ... Plus am able to play even games like Burout Paradise and GTA 4 ( 640*480 h@ck) ... Older games like Crysis run reasonably well at 1024*786 (25-40fps) ... Handles Vista with ease so will definately run Windows 7 ... great buy at 36k ( 34k for lappy + 2k for extended 3 yr warranty)

    best of all: lenovo G450 29499JG/G550 295894Q

the first one is a 14 inch model while the other is 15 inch model. the first model promises 3 hours while the second promises 2.5 hours and heavier too. the hour* is indication. i doubt anyone will be able to use it for 3 hours.

c2d 2.2GHZ with 2GB DDR3 RAM (extra 2GB DDR3 RAM costs Rs 3500), 320GB HDD, intel media accelerator 4500, carry case and all the other basic stuffs. both are free dos.

Today's price in nehru place, delhi is Rs 32,300 and Rs 31,500 respectively. installed windows 7 and downloaded the drivers from the net. so far so good..

Nothing beats these two models for the price!

Get the HP Pavilion DV6-1111AU. HP Pavilion dv2-1003AX or HP Pavilion dv2-1002AU if you’re a fan of ultra-thins.

It's a great model and more importantly, the after-warranty services of Acer is much better than that of Dell and HP (price wise). The price that Acer puts to replace components after warranty is far lower than that of Dell and HP. Also you can extend the warranty every year by paying some amount based on the laptop that you purchase.
