hey guys...pls pls help me out on this one.
i use opera to surf the net. now from time to time when im online, the computer just stops responding. no windows open or close. but the funny thing is that the mouse cursor moves...any open windows can be minimised (but not opened again once minimised)...and if i have some music or sumthing running on winamp playing, it keeps playing with no probs...that doesnt hang!! but i cant operate winamp in this situation..!! pls pls help. i thought it was an opera prob, but same happens wit other browsers too while connected to the net. i have scanned for spyware using ms antispyware and viruses with avast but found nothing. if i restart the computer, winxp boots up fine wit no prob, and does not even do a disk check. it just loads back as if nuthin happens...so PLS HELP!!!

peace..

u can go through this 2 articals...

Some programs seem to stop working after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Problem Solver

& also when the problems occurs... use the Task Manager to shutdown the Not responding Programs...

i read the articles u mentioned but they are related to solving problems after sp2. i dont seem to have any sort of trouble mentioned in the articles. my problem is

->the computer 'hangs' when connected to the net, but the mouse cursor works. the alt-tab function works, but does not switch the programs. no new program can be opened, but existing programs can be closed.

->all existing windows can be can be minimised, but not restored.

->taskmanager cant be opened in this situation

->if windows is forcefully shutdown, when it starts again scandisk does not run.

SO PLS PLS HELP ME OUT...

thankx

does this happen only when ur connected to the net ? which AV solution, if any, do you use ? If it is a problem only after internet connection defenitely sounds like a virus/trojan to me. Install Kaspersky and do a complete system scan and eliminate all virus instances you find.
