Express.co.uk - Home of the Daily and Sunday Express | Sport | FootballArsenal manager Wenger embraced Henry after his goal and said: “It was a dream. The story you’d tell some young kids about football. Unfortunately, it’s not often like that in our game, but sometimes it happens.”
Henry produced a classic side-foot finish after being found by Alex Song inside the Leeds penalty area and Wenger added: “When he was in this position, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s your angle but it’s a bit too close’, that’s where it surprised me. He didn’t force the shot and still made it look easy.
Arsene Wenger described Thierry Henry’s incredible goalscoring return to Arsenal as a “dream”
"I thought he’d take a very strong inside shot but that he was a bit too far to the left, yet he always had that special finishing.
“That was the Thierry Henry finishing.”
Henry claims he will never forget his latest goal for the Gunners and is targeting even more before he returns to the MLS next month.
He said: “I will always remember tonight. I don’t know why but, when it comes to Arsenal, something happens with me. Sometimes in a bad way, but most of the time in a good way.
“It’s weird – when I came back from holiday in Mexico 15 days ago, I never thought I would play for Arsenal again, let alone score the winner.
“I don’t know what to say. I love the club. I want to help out at the end of the day and, hopefully, I can do more. I hope it won’t be the last one.
“The feeling when I scored was amazing. I’m enjoying the club as a fan. Scoring a goal when you support a team, now I know what the guys at Chelsea, Liverpool and United feel when they score.”
Henry is temporary, Chamakh is permanent.
