Plz. tell me the answers of following questions
1;should i install windows xp service pack 1
2;i want the names of the software discussed in august CHIP in privacy section(which included Window Washer) and Mulimedia section(which included Virtual Dub)
3: Can I download windows update using a download manager?
4: I use BSNL to connect to Internet..Recently my speed has slowed down from 40 kbps to 12 kbps.Can u tell how??

yes you should install sp1... that is if you don`t have sp2.. cause if you have sp2 then don`t install sp1 cause all the goodies are present in sp2..
3)
oh ya you can download windows updates using a download manager..

oh i already got a gmail id.. if you want i can give you one ..heheheheheh

1) sp2 patches all the security holes ... so yeah definitely install it
tho im not sure if sp1 will install over sp2 !!!
anyways ... my point being .. get the latest service pack .. its a must if u want to keep ur computer safe
2) u want the software ? goto www.download.com and download all the trials u want
3) you can download windows update thru a download manager ?
i never knew that ..
u can only visit the windows update site and download it automatically
or set ur system to download them automatically
dun think uc an queue them up
4) doesnt BSL also have a broadband option ?
if its a dial up .. yeah telephone line must be the cause
if not .. well i guess u have a shared connection and theyve just added more users ... so bandwidth has split .
@ cooljeba .. those gmail invitations dont sound too bad ... got an extra one? ? :D

1. Yes, Install Windows XP, but go for SP2 as it has a lot of security addons, however, a lot of other softwares dont work with sp2..

3. NO. You cant even view windows update page via any other Browser than IE. Afterall, its MICROSOFT, the Daddy. Incase, if someone has downloaded it already and distributing it in a zipped format from his own server (which is illegal) you might be able to use download managers there.

4. Whats your Modem? You can tweak it a lot, however, the biggest part depends on the ISP (BSNL). I've been to Khopoli, where BSNL is the only ISP, speed sucks there. You really dont have any other option, sadly.

Oh Btw, Gmail? Nah, I've 10 invitations left myself to giveaway..

hey buddy, Regarding 4th question if u want to have eye raising experience try this

If u have a dial-up connection
goto modem properties -> Advansed Tab -> Extra initilising setting
and write there "AT&FX" without quotes

then connect to see miracle

If this works send me a Gmail invitation , I dnt have one 8)

can i install win xp sp2 ON sp1 WIHOUT Formattin' or loss of data ( I HAVE NOT ARCHIVED FILES THAT R NEEDED FOR UNINSTALLITION ) 'cause i dont have much space left................

for u :)

1)u shld install sp1 but if ur Xp is not registerd u have to find the patch for sp1
3)to download updates see microsoft's site and down manager will work

no .. it'll be written over
its like this
all these service packs have certain updates ...
so those updates will stay ... and other things which are new in sp2 will be written over the older ones. ..
and even tho blade_runner has said that the service packs are cumulative .. i had a problem .. i dun think my laptop came with a sp1 xp cd. .. so i installed sp2 ... and then in windows update it showed some missing updates it shouldnt
so i installed sp1 then reinstalled sp2 over it ... NOW my computer is up to date ...
so install sp1 THEN install sp2
or install sp1 and get autopatcher @ *www.autopatcher.com
and ull still be upto date but without sp2
