Tablet for reading

yes, e-ink readers are a delight to read on. however, the OP's requirement is a little different. he wishes to read and watch videos on it. so obviously, a tab will cater to those needs. for instance, even though i have an e-ink reader, but i later realised that i would also like to watch videos SBS on some subjects that i read about. thus, i went tab-hunting then. the OP seems to be in a similar boat; hence his (such) query.

at times, more than a single requirement are on the same priority-level. happens with all of us. OP could be in the same situation. he has limited his hunt to only officially domestically available & serviceable devices, otherwise, the search would've & was to end pretty soon & quick!

In reality, refurbished versions are considered better than original as they undergo a lot of inspection from the company. You have very low chances of getting a damaged by one.
Only drawback Is warranty which you will receive only of three months.

i beg to differ.

in electronics its usually the other way round.

Majority of the refurbished products arent defective. They were just returned by the customer "claiming" it to be defective. Even though its defective, the manufacturer inspects it with care and then sells it as refurbished editions.

I heard many tech websites telling that refurbished edition electronics are good to buy.
So I cant understand how your analogy applies here.

^^sadly that logic doesnt apply in India, even with apple which literally runs on refurbs in the US

my friend got a refurb iphone here after paying 20k for a 4S from maple because his 4S display cracked
turned out the refurb has more issues than the one he had exchanaged-battery etc
they blamed him saying he was charging it at night(their usual excuse , told me the same thing when my ipad charger stopped working within a week,i ended up buying a capdase charger which has worked well for me after having two original apple chargers die on me)

Well, it's a totally different case of mine.

I ordered nexus 7 2013 from eBay which was a refurbished edition. Till now, I didn't have any problems with it except the multi-touch issue, which even the original nexus users have it.

Apart from that, there are no issues and everything works like a charm. Even USB otg works which I was highly skeptical of.

Only major drawback is warranty period which is only 3 months. But considering its low cost (11k), I think it's a great buy.
