Did someone play a prank with your windows registry... its possible to make such a setting... check out your autorun settings with msconfig or else, post your HijackThis log file (as Batty says )

i am assuming a7v8x-mx
- in bios check option called ac power loss restart , change to off
- check temp in bios
- increase shutdown temp to 95
- clear cmos if above steps dont work
- if ur able to go to safe mode , probably problem with drivers .
- check asus site for latest bios and the bugs fixed by it
