mera kutch nahi ho sakta
Someone suggested me to try for systema admin. and I am sure there are plenty of system admins here who can guide me.

so what all is required to be a sys-admin ? what all is needed to be a sys-admin? in terms of qualification, skills,, experience etc. Is a college degree necessary ? because I don't (and won't) have that ( please don't ask why)

Please share any other pointers to get a job as in this line.

thanks

About me : I know my way around computers, can build and assemble a pc, have a decent typing speed, can install various operating systems, can keep windows running safe and smooth, I know my around a unix system , know a bit of bash scripting, can write simple programs in multiple languages(java, php,html etc) . So basically I am jack of all computer trades :D, i think.

crucial things I lack - I don't have any experience with handling a network, I am no expert at network security :( . could these be a deal breaker ?

Is this good enough ? should I start applying somewhere ? or should i do some sort of course first?

Edit: wrong foruM ?? move please if it should be in chit chat

Consider this question for reply too.......

What will be the job profile in this field...?? And how much salary one could expect, being a fresher ?

Does system n n/w admin far different fields, or generally its the single person ?

@chesss

U said u dnt hav ny coll deg. But for getting job at well-knowned, reputed companies u need a Engg deg or a bsc(H) in CS sort of deg.

Though nw admin and sys admin assigned 2 diff persons...thn also u need to know basic nw(at least making n maintaining LAN), coz sys admin not only works on clients but on both servers and clients.

Well.........try to do courses like CCNA, RHCE, MCSE(for server admin) etc....

@pr.itdude
Depends on company......but bigger companies assign these 2 jobs to 2 diff persons...
