hey please suggest me a LATEST high end configuration for a PC which is gonna be used as a gaming rig + TV + DvD Player + Audio Jukebox!

i'm buying a new computer.... and my limit is upto Rs. 50,000 without a monitor.... i already own a LG flatron 17" CRT monitor....

and SLI support is preferable... also please tell me that what is better AGP cards or PCI slot cards? and i want creative inspire speaker.... suggest me the version...

i dont think u can get a real high end config for 50k

anyways this is my suggestion,

AMD athlon 3500+
ASUS a8n SLI delux
XFX geforce 6800gs- 256mb
Lite-On 1693 DVD riter
floppy drive
Antec 500w P/W
any cabinet of ur choice
APC ups
Creative inspire- 5.1
keyboard and mouse set from Microsoft


and for info search the forum, there so many posts on this one

ok 50 K is the limit....
ok then i shud rather ask for a "upper mid-end" PC config.... ;)
can this PC have an intel processor..... cause my brother wont let me buy an AMD processor as he doesnt recognize it to be very popular...... huh.. CRAP!! but as i cant do anythign about his opinion i'll have to go with an intel processor....

but coz u force me to
then i say,

go for the lowest intel dual core
(dont remember the model number maybe Pentium D 820)
costs around 13k

and a 945 chipset based mobo

Get an opteron s939 if available,

Even if he does not recognize AMD as much tell him to see the server market and how Opterons have left Xenons helpless.

i am sad that u cant get an AMD,

i think intel 3.4 will be better than an intel dual core, somehow i just dont believe on intel dual cores, they are just manufactured for the name "dual core"

problem with opteron s939 is availablity of good high end compatible mother board.
if u get u will be the monster.
if u dont get go for amd 3500+ with
msi k8n diamond plus this motherboard perticularly has all the features that no motherboard has.
eg creative 7.1 onboard sound
go for atleast 512mb hynix best 1gb ram
sony dual layer 16x dvd writer

i bet this would be best combination

it will work on any s939 mobo,

hey... is opetron for home use i mean... someone said that opetron left the xenons helpless.... and as far as i know xenon is mainly a server chip...
and hey i'm a compleete noob with these mobo and chipset things........
so can u plz tell me the ultimate combination!??

Lite-On 1693 DVD riter has some compatibility issues with dual layer DVD-Rs so u must go for a sony dual layer 16x dvd writer

Opterons are server Processors...... they put intel XENON market in bad shape

I would actually call an opteron a real beast.... it has huge overclocking potential, a 1Mb L2 cache, and exellent performance,

Sometime back opterons were released on socket 939 also, which means we can use opterons now in our desktops, i am planning on buying one.
Opterons are a steal for their price but s939 opterons are so badly in demand that i dont think they need to ship them to india, so if u get one, jump on it.

So, basically we are getting opterons at higher price, i am ready to pay that to within reasonable limits.

what u can do is get an opteron and any s939 motherboard that u would have got with an athlon,
But I will VERY VERY STRONGLY suggest u get a motherboard with good overclocking features
and get the best ram around,

so the motherboard of my choice with an opteron will be ASUS A8N-E, with graphics card seperately, now choice of graphics card depends on the budget.


this is what i plan to get, and i am searching for an opteron, the more money i have, the higher opteron i will get.

now that is what have learnt from this discussion as of yet....
some one plz tell me shud i get a 64 bit processor or not? is there any use?
cause this is gonna be for home gaming and media center type PC.

has this motherboard got integrated video hardware acceleration?
also please tell me what is nForce 4?

will u please use the "EDIT" button.....

i suggested an opteron, and not an athlon 3500+.

A8N-E does not have any integrated video. you will need a graphics card.


U cannot put a LGA775 processor in a socket 939 motherboard, no intel processor can be put in an AMD supporting motherboard (and converse).

if u insist on intel, u can get an intel Pentium D 820, this should be available and in ur budget.
