Hi guys, i am planning to upgrade my mobo, processor and RAM. This is what I have planned:

Processor: Intel C2D E4300
Mobo: Intel D965RY
RAM: 2*1 GB Transcend 667Mhz

I have found that the E4300 though cheap is a very good overclocker. Is it far behind the E6300 at stock speeds?
Secondly, will the Intel D965RY allow decent overclocking?

My budget is 15k, so i had to look at the cheaper options. Is this the right selection for the given budget?
:p

Since Intel boards dont allow overclocking, try getting XFX 650i SLi costs few hundreds more but it will be great. Remember it doesnt have onboard video so you have make choice overclocking or onboard video :)

Ther again...

Ther aint any XFX 650i Sli...

Its either 650i ultra or the 680iLT SLi....

650i Ultra's an xcellnt board... Nice o'clockin features if not grt..

Intel 965RYCK Doesn allow o'clockin...

Intel mobo's re multipliers n voltage options're locked n only Bad-Axes hav d unlocked option...

Assam !!! well right now in Kolkata Market the 650i isnt available yet, will take more or less 8 to 10 days !!

Price is expected to b around 6k according to the local dealer at Kolkata...

anyway, with 15k,

2x1 GB Transcend 667Mhz 3800 + TAX

E4300

now with motherboard consider ASUS P5B-VM (The uATX) or P5B-V (the ATX one) it will be around 7.2k + TAX in Kolkata *www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=332&model=1314&modelmenu=1

as the P5B-V / VM will allow over clocking with on board grfx (G965) which will allow u not to buy a grfx card to allow a PC in Budget...

now u may consider AMD too, with AMD u can get a X2 4800 with ASUS M2A-VM with new AMD 690G chipset !!!

BTW cheap Intel Core 2 Duo 2140 has also hot Indian markets :)
Lolz its not C2D its Pentium E and not worth upto it .. you need to CO at MAX to get better performance..

Try this dude for you config :)

E4300 [4.5k]
Intel D965RY[ N/A]
2 Gigs of Kingston DDr2 667 do not go for Transcend they sports older Hynix chip set while Kingston sports latest [2 no.] Elpida ..

Else if u can increase ur budget by 5k then go fo r this

E4300+ XFX 650i +2Gigs Kingston + XFX 8500 GT ;) As 650 do not have onboard GPU so u have to settle for 1 if u plan to buy it else above will do just fine.. Do not consider higher level gaming :D

i am planning to get an XFX 8600GT but not now, may be six months later. So i want some good onboard solution for the time being. And there isnt any onboard graphics better than X3000, right? Also will the E4300 perform better than the Pentium D series at stock speeds. The 650i motherboard isnt available currently at my place and getting it from an online store would mean paying a lot more than the actual price. As multiplier and voltage options are locked in the intel motherboards, can I overclock them using software Crystal CPUID and Clock GEN?

There is but difficult to find in C2D boards if you can settle for AMD then get 690 G boards based on X1250 GPU 10 times better than X3000 ;)

Look for the Board P5N-E SLi as this is the asus counter Part of XFX 650i Ultra, as I am not sure if in Assam from where the local vendors get their products, as if from kolkata, then P5N-E SLi is available, here, *www.rptechindia.com/rashib2c/htmls/network.asp and I think Rashi have branch office and sells person in Assam too...

when u want to buy 8600 GT then consider the P5N-E SLi... but then too right now u would need a GRFX with SLi board, and 6200 LE is available in around 1.5k !!! which u may run for few weeks as back up till u get a 8600 GT

How good is the ASUS P5B-VM ?

It comes with x3000 GMA just like the D965RY, it allows pretty good OC too, take a look at here, *www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=332&model=1312&modelmenu=1

Over D965RY i would preffer this one because good OC facility, ASUS board, and better features compair with D965RY

:)

Intel D965RY || ASUS P5B-VM compare them by ur self...

P5B-VM in Chandi is available in 7.2k + TAX where as D965RY is bellow 5k... not sure for the exact price for RY :p

where as P5N-E SLi is low on stock therefore its in High 7k range, but compare with other place of India the 650i based ones should be price in mid or low 6k range, my local dealer told me that stock will take around 7 days to b here, so we could exspect the price of P5N-E SLi to go down in Kolkata end next week !!!
