i intend to buy a new laptop. i wud like 2 ve d foll features-
. hard disk 80 gb prefferably. if i opt 4 160 gb, how much xtra will it cost?
. 17 inch screen size
. no need for webcams.
. no need 4 high end graphics card.
. no need 4 gud speakrs. i WILL use ATP3 separately.
. dvd writr reqd.


with these confign, how much will d cost be and which brand model will u recommend?

i hit upon a ACER ASPIRE 5315 model wid celeron 1.73 mhz.
my mom' needs dis lappy n that too for only working with presentations in her college lectures. so, wil it b ok?
are zentith lappy not gud?plz explain why. their desktops were quite ok.

All though this question is not directed to me, but still I am commenting,

As MOM would be carrying, so try and look for 14" / 15" models, 17" would be too heavy to carry around..

5315 is definitely a kick ass model under Rs. 24k or such... Celeron M 550 is based on Conroe (Core 2) architecture which is a lot different from the Celeron Desktop versions, hence that 5315 along with x3100 and 1 GB ram would run vista with ease

certainly its a system to look for

thanks man. i wud myself go for the sony vaios coz looks matter me a lot. but for my mom, i know, she wont even touch her lappy when its nt reqd- tht averages to a maxm of 1 hr use per day. n dats y i m trying to reduce unnecessary expenditure.
.any info on zenith lappys?

^^ Go for that model 5315 recommended by Choto Cheetah.

The reason for not recommending Zenith is that those laptops are not reliable and won't perform good. Desktops are different area. Anybody can build a decent desktop. When it comes to laptop, there are lot of requirements like good airflow in side, keeping power consumption at the minimum, stability while on the move, quality of build, quality of display, getting most out of the processor etc.

btw, if you Mom is going to use a projector for presentation, ASUS EEE PC should be a great choice.

Acer 5315. Its about 21k. If your Mom can wait then go for the Wind. They should be around 23k at launch.

i heard that there are some lappy that can run directly from electric, they also have battery backup capacity. can you guys give some idea?? is such model is available in low budget???
BTW, Acer 5315 specification is good enough for 21k...
