Guys am planning to assemble a new system for a friend..will be using as a multimedia PC so please can u suggest a good configuration and the budget is 20k....if possible were in favour of the DDR3..will not be needing monitor(already have Samsung B2030) and Cabinet..

1.AMD Processor
2.Motherboard(with decent onboard graphics to play decent games)
3.Ram (2gb DDR3)
4.Smps (looking at CorsairVX 450)
5.HDD (looking at WD 500)
6.DVD Rom (around 1.2k)

Like i've said Monitor and Cabinet not required...Will be buying online from Lynx @ Chandigarh or Prime ABGB @Mumbai!!!

i mean if you will go with HD5770 in the future then fsp 500w is fine.
but if you plan a hd5850 or something then corsair vx550w @ 4.7k.

HD5770 will be more than enough if the VX450 can handle it....he will not be gaming that much so 5850 will not be required...

get from IT wares (mumbai) or SMC international (Delhi, best rates i ever seen. price inc of tax & carry charge). or Media Home (Delhi)

Biostar TA785G3 HD @ 4.2k
2*2 GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 5.2k

jas has already suggested a good config. don't so any experiment with his config. do change PSU according to this:

FSP Saga II 400W or Gigabyte 460W ---> HD5670.
FSP Saga II 500W or Corsair VX450W ---> HD5770.

i was wondering about the AMD Phenom II 555 BE,the Price is not that similar and what about MSI 785G-53 rather than Biostar...will stick with the Corsairvx450...
Lynx seems to be selling at the lowest prices as compared to others (dont know about the service though)...

X2 555 is a dual core. better stay away from it. you can try unlock its extra cores but theres always a risk it won't unlock. if it fails to unlock, than you stuck. about the MSI board, check its pricing. if its high, skip it & instead get 8 series mobo.

Lynx pricing is excluding of tax & carry charge.
SMC ---> inc of tax & carry charge.
Prime, Media, IT & others ---> inc of tax only.

ok thnks alot for clearing that...here are my suggestion..
1.AMD Athlon II X4 635
2.MSI 785-E53
3.Corsair VS 1333Mhz DDR3 2gb
4.Corsair VX 450
5.WD 500 HDD...

wats wrong with Corsair 450...will be upgrading to 4gb and with decent graphics so i think the Vx450 will be more future proof....
