Broken In
Hello guyz,
I have a Pentium4 processor (3.0Ghz, HT) with 512 MB of RAM and an Intel 865GBF motherboard, running Windows XP (SP2). The sound controller that I use is the one built in the motherboard, controlled using SoundMAX .

I am facing a peculiar problem regarding the sound device in my PC. Whenever I run Winamp (5.093) to play songs, the songs play just fine without any problems. The problem is, the sound device does not seem to get freed by Winamp even after I exit Winamp. Other Media Players, alongwith programs like CoolEdit, fail to detect the device, saying that the device is already in use. I have to restart the PC in order to get the device freed.
I even tried upgrading to Winamp 5.094, but the results were the same. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Right off the assembly line
try Lower Version

You just try out this thing with the lower version of winamp.
To download the lower version click the following link

Make sure that the winamp directory in program files is not read only! And yeah there's a new version out v5.1. Try that.

hey wait a sec ..
i dont get it .. "winamp doesnt free the device" .. wht exactly do you mean ??
do you mean that when winamp is running .. no other player/program can use the sound device ?
that itself is chaotic !!
In Windows, that's not normal .. i think something's worng with your soundmax drivers.

Hmm..."Device already in use" error. Update your Audio drivers. This would solve the problem.
