Strange issue with laptop

the problem started a month ago
when my laptop (HP dv6 2005ax) started to hang whenever it got heated up
then some new issues cropped up when my laptop would not start.. when i pressed the power button all the LEDs would glow for a second and then the laptop would power down..
even if i tried switching it on 5 -6 times the same would occur

then when i left it for say half an hour .. and then tried again.. then it would start but eventually hang when it got heated up

then i gave it for repair
they said the motherboard's gone bad and it needs to be replaced..
i agreed

now when i got it back , i decided to test it
so the laptop had no problems turning on
i was just surfing and updating the laptop.. and it hibernated on it's own...this was strange
when i pressed the power switch again it resumed
i decided to do a WEI test (windows experience index)
and when the test reached - "windows media encoding performance" the cpu meter was at 95 % and it hibernated again..
when i resumed , it hibernated again.. this kept on happening and the test eventually finished .... during the test the laptop hibernated like 4-5 times .. each time i resumed it hibernated again...

and every time i ran the test my WEI scores for the cpu performance kept going down.. 1st they were at 5.5 .. now they are at 4.9 ....

once after the laptop had hibernated and i resumed, i got a message that the

"bios had powered down the system to prevent overheating"..

this was not the exact message.. but it was something like that

the guys who are repairing my laptop are not able to pinpoint the issue which is causing this..
we have changed hard disks to check if the hdd had an issue and the hdd is fine..

the repairguy has this theory of cpu going bad.. but i doubt it

as a last try he's changing all the internal connectors to see if there is a short in one of them which might be causing an issue...

Has anyone seen such kind of an issue?
any help, would be appreciated....cause i'm really confused with what's gone wrong...
