When I did my article on UAC, some ofmy frineds told em that they hated the screen going black, personally I don't like it too. Today, I bumped into this tutorial which shows how to disable that:

  1. Click on the Start Button and key in secpol.msc and hit Enter.
  2. Navigate through Local Policies and Security Options.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and right click on "User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation" and select Properties.
  4. Set the option to Disabled and hit OK.

But by doing so, you would be opening your computer to possible security risks & threats, and hence is not advisable ! ;-) But do you know why the UAC Prompt does so, when it appears ?

Why does that flicker bother people so much? I hardly notice it, and definitely would not risk UAC failure for that small inconvenience.

It's just Vista's way of bringing the UAC to prominence and preventing malicious software from accessing the system or acquiring authority to do so.
