Spark from cabinet's rear-end and now PC won't turn on!

I assembled my PC barely 10 days ago now I'm with dead PC that refuses to turn on!

I doesn't even started gaming on this thing, all I did was web browsing and casual stuff ever since I bought it. It was running super cool at middle 30s temperatures.

Today, while I was watching a movie , I noticed a bright spark from back of the cabinet followed by a sound and then computer went off and now it won't turn on!

There is no sign of physical damage, motherboard and everything looks fine. I hope not everything is "fried" , I didn't bought a Antec PSU for this to happen.

This are my specs, PC was built on 23/4/2016 and was running Windows 10.

Please check all components properly.
Probably the PSU is gone.

I did it once to check , I unplugged everything thereafter.

How do I check everything "properly" ? There was just spark and sound, no smell and physical damage I can see, everything looks new and neat!

Is it possible that my motherboard and Ram is gone too? That would suck!

Check one by one. Start with UPS, then power supply. I think it's either one of these two.

I doubt your MOBO took any hit. Power comes from PSU to MOBO.

If PSU is burnt, probably the power supply was cut to MOBO at that time.
I could be wrong but take your PSU to service center first or at least the vendor.

b/w you have earthing to the power source I hope.
Also for next time keep a surge protector in between PSU and wall plug point.

What are the chances of other computer components to go bad when a quality PSU goes down?

Fairly good.
If you have any other PSU or if you could borrow one to troubleshoot, try that. If not, contact the service center (PSU)...

That's a relief! I do have earthing and a voltage stabilizer at main.

I'll talk with my seller about it tomorrow. I hope everything is fine and replacing PSU will solve the problem.

Yeah , I'm gonna take my PC to local computer center and plug a PSU there , otherwise I'll talk with my seller about it.

PSU failed, PC is working fine as tested with a working PSU. Thank god.

Anyone know how could this happen, there was barely any load on my system and a quality PSU like Antec going dead makes me worried.

do you have a surge protector connected with ups? check whether earthing is properly provided.

Can't exactly but could be due to surge issues.
Next time do the wiring this way.

Get Belkin spike buster.

Wall plug --->Spike buster--->UPS--->PSU and Monitor

Should not face this issue again.

I have no problem Investing in a
"spike buster" but before I do that
I would like to know the
followings:

Will spike buster work in
conjunction with voltage
stabilizer?

My UPS manufacturer says to "directly" plug the unit into wall and avoid extensions, is spike buster considered as a extension , which may have a load limit?


What is the range of a such spike
buster?

Are these things easily available
offline?

If I added a Spike buster thingy, Power route will look like this.

Main ----> Voltage stabilizer ( ----> Wall plug --->Spike buster--->UPS--->PSU and Monitor.

Also please explain stabilizer / spike buster, which is better for PC components? Or link to a knowledge source.

I know some people that are like

Main --->Wall plug ---> PSU and Monitor (no problems, running for years)

Main --->Wall plug ---> UPS--->PSU and Monitor (no problems, running for years)
