i use Redhat Linux 9, besides Windows XP Proffessional and
Windows 98 in my system. I have an Asus A7V266-MX motherboard for an AMD Athlon 2400+ processor with AD 1980 6-Channel onboard sound with Sound Max as the driver. The problem is that linux is detecting
my sound card but the output is coming only from my rear speakers
(mic pin since it is an integrated one, when i specify my speakers
to be multichannel ones in windows, mic will be used for rear
speakers) and not through the front ones. and recently, i am
getting a continuous beep while i am working with linux, right after
i login. why this is happening? is it possible to run multiple
programs of sound (xmms and kaboodle etc) simultaneously in linux?
i have a problem with this. when i enable system sounds for closing
and application, menu popups etc, i get a message that 'some other
application is blocking the sound to xmms. isn't it possible with
linux? linux (i mean UNIX ) is said to be multi tasking etc..
is there any option? this happens both with gnome and kde.
