My sincere apologies in case I sound sarcastic,but i feel like saying a "Wake Up" in context to the question and the budget you posted and your requirements.
The viable options to consider from , as of now are as follows
(1) Motorola Defy
(2) Samsung galaxy ace
(3) HTC wildfire S( not my recco,but in case u want the HTC tag , or better, increase ur budget by 2-3K and get Salsa)
(4) Spice Mi 410 ( IGhz proccy)

@a2mn2002 - The 4 phones u mentioned are definitely far above your budget. Optimus net is nothing but Optimus 1 with overclocked CPU.. when it comes, it should definitely be within ur budget. But i would suggest you get O1 instead of ONet and over clock it manually. Would save you some money. 
Among the 4 u mentioned.. probably Desire S has the best battery.
