***HELP***I had a 40 GB HD with 5 partitions having windows 98 & windows XP pro OS & other data partitions. Last week I purchased a 160 GB SATA drive, tried to install OS in that. I installed Vista & XP Pro in that with 2 more data partitions. In the process of installing OS in SATA, the old hard disc partitions having windows 98 & windows XP pro OS were also formatted. After some this of the files ( my personnel files) are not opening in one of the partition of my 40 GB old hard disc. These files are not opening even if I boot in VISTA or XP (old or new HD)When I try to open a pop up comes THE SECTOR IS NOT FOUND, the file is not formatted, do you want to format. Some of the files in the same partition & in all other partition are opening. How can I retrieve my files?

If the partition which is not opening is the one with Vista installed on it (My uncle had this problem), then you can boot with Vista, and select to Repair "Startup and Booting".......

Otherwise, Recovery Softwares might help. PCI File Recovery is a pretty good freeware for the job:
