software for video files

I need a good software for combining, converting and splitting movie files.

tried power video converter n truly speaking the developers of this software focused totally on it's unique interface and not functionality.

i also tried easy video joiner but it only joins. so please help me find such a software.
any advice would be very helpful. thanks

What about Sony Vegas? I think it provides all those features that u r looking for....Also the video editing features offered are great....

Just for cutting & joining, I think VCD Cutter & VCD clipper should be enough...
