Right off the assembly line
My computer was working fine till I reinstalled AVG 7 (coz it had not been working for a long time) and guess what - It found some 500 files (all exes) infected by Win32/Parite.
So now loads of files in my Windows folder, my MS office etc. all are infected.

Also, AVG constantly pops up telling me about one file or the other which is infected by it, but it can't heal it - can only delete/send to virus vault.
And, since I have installed some of my softwares from the net (Firefox, Winamp etc.) I dont have any backup for them (except their installation exes - which have been infected. And I have original Windows XP (that I hav registered online) so I fear I can't reinstall it either.

So WHAT DO I DO??
Plz help me!

This is what I found at the AVG's Virus Encylopedia:

Win32/Parite:

Installation and spreading:
When the worm is launched it finds executable files with EXE or SCR extension on all accessible disk drives and infects them.

Removing:
There is no removal tool for Win32/Parite virus. It's not possible to heal the infected files because the virus overwrites the executable file in most cases. It is necessary to restore damaged files from backup.

So I hav no option of removing it (even if I buy AVG, or maybe even with Norton)

So now tell me one thing: Will I be able to reinstall Windows XP (coz its original, and then I reckon it won't let me activate again!)

Plz help!!
