SMPS and burnt computer

Hey!

I used to have a 250W smps. But i got a new graphics card and i was adviced to upgrade the smps. i changed it to a Frontech 400W smps and turned the switch on... the entire house power tripped and switched it off....
Later i reconnected my old smps but my comp does not switch on what do i do??? this is happening after the above incident my old smps is perfectly fine... i think there was a fault with the new smps
Please tell me what has gone wrong i have connected all the power cabes inside the cabinet properly

Hmm...
First check if ur old SMPS is working by pluging it in the mains and shorting da green and ny black wire(use any small piece of stray wire). The SMPS fan will start spinin indicatin the SMPS is working fine. If it doesnt send ur SMPS for repairs.
Usually always do the above before installin a new SMPS to check for faulty SMPS's
If the SMPS fan starts spinin then check the motherboards power connections and still if the system doesnt boot up.. then most probably ur new SMPS has burnt ur "SouthBridge" send ur mobo for repairs.


btw always by a good branded high end SMPS(pwrsafe etc) coz they hav a inbuilt feature that prevents any damage ur mobo incase of a short in the SMPS..
