simultaneous internet for laptop n desktop

guys i want a suggestion from all who are already doing this, that what is the best option available with me with bsnl broadband(256 kbps) to connect my desktop (with or without wire) and laptop (wireless) to access the net. the lappy is wi-fi enabled.
i want the suggestions for (a) which modem to use (b) approx cost (c) will bsnl offer me any modem for the same purpose

A. BSNL Type-II modem will do (Desktop Wire in LAN / Lappy Wi-Fi)
B. Type-II Will cost Rs. 1800/- or u may rent it from BSNL @ Rs. 90/- pm
C. Certainly... but if available...

little devil........ u r definitely fast... one more thing i want to know that if i start downloading a file .. say 10 mb in size then will there be any difference in download speed i.e. will my download time increase if i do it wireless'ly

Well it depends on many things, suppose in case u are connetded to a great server which is offering u best of the speeds but still, if u are moving alot with the Lappy and manage to get out of the covering singnal radius of the Modem then certainly u will face speed drop !!!

Other wise I have seen in out 2 storied hours i am able to surf without any problem

yeah problem comes if i manage to take the lappy to the farthest corner of the ground floor where as Modem is in the other corner of 1st floor and between then couple of walls ans stuff like that, yes then i notice signal drop
