Setting up ftp server in Open Suse 10.2

Beware of the innocent
I am running Open Suse 10.2 with two hard drives, one ide and the other sata. The ide has 4 partitions, one of which is full of my programs. This is mounted through the partition manager in Open Suse as say, /win/prg
I have now setup vsftpd and it now allows login remotely (It was pretty tough setting it up though, so that gives you an idea of my level of knowledge of Linux config files)
The problem is that when i login to my user account, say user1, i am taken to the /home/user1 directory. I want to set up the system so that when I login I can go to /win/prg. I am comfortable with setting up another user account if necessary, but I am not sure how to go about it.
I considered adding a user to the users file, with shell as bin/false and home directory as the /win/prg, but I am not sure if it would work. Also the /win/prg has been setup with 777 permissions (as a convenience of course, I know that from a security angle it sucks) but I want that for the user, say user1 or new user1 she should only be able to view and download the files, not make changes, and of course, the permissions should be recursive. Can anyone give me a pointer to solve this. I hope I am clear.
Thanks

I think u can usermod(modify user) local user to change his /home/user directory to /win/prg,hoping its there already.
cmds goes like this:
usermod -d /win/prg username
use some gui?
else do read "man usermod"

hey thanks! but if i change my user1 (the original username I use to logon, wouldn't it also change the location I login to and all my profile data will be stored to the /win/prg folder. I guess I will have to create a new user and do this. Open Suse has a good enough gui, but I think I WILL play around with the shell.
Thanks again praka123

Login from where? From the local system or via ftp?
And also post your config file of vsftpd, in case it's needed.

ok, I want to login through ftp to access the /win/prg folder (or partition or whatever). I don't care what user id i have to use.
I want to access the user1 user account locally and i don't want to move the data from old user dir since my /win/prg folder is synchronized to backup servers at our HO whenever I login to my windows os. I wouldn't want an admin knowing that i am on Linux.
So I want my home directory to be where it is, and I want to be able to remotely login to the /win/prg folder through ftp. I hope that is clear.
Google has always been my friend praka123, but at this stage of my knowledge, I would rather prefer a simple guide. I tried some other things by reading the man and so forth and I have had to reinstall Open Suse 3 times this week, update it and reconfigure all my software. I next intend to learn how to restore my user directory from backup. But that is for later. Thanks anyway, the man pages are useful, of course.

and here is the vsftpd.conf file

Code:
