Ok,
Here's what I am selling,

Two 80Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA II HDD's

The HDD's are Bought on 12-Jan-2007,and are barely 40 days old, both are Identical and bought same time. Which means they are still under 5 years waranty approx. Both are in perfect condition, not used much.

Market Price: 4.2k
Expected Price: 3.2k (negotiable)

It's a real good deal for someone who wanna setup RAID

Only for people in kolkata.

Performance: I got them to setup RAID 0, and I am using the HDD's in RAID '0' Configuration currently, they are working smooth, and the average read speeds are almost double, (95MBps) as compared to average 50-55MBps of normal HDD's,

Reason to sell: I am selling the HDD's because I will be setting Up raid on 2 x 250Gb HDD's. I wanted to setup RAID on Smaller HDD's (and hence bought these) but I dont have enough SATA Ports to plug in All my HDD's at a time, I got 2 x 250Gb, 2 x 80Gb, 1 x 400Gb HDD's, and I have 4 SATA, so unwillingly I have only option so setup RAID on the 2x250Gb and sell of the 80Gb's.

I know that man, but I am selling 2x80Gb, this is for people who want to setup RAID, not who want 160Gb storage, and it's a real good deal for them. Why don't u noobs get the point, if it was not for RAID, why would I pay 4200 just for 160G just a month ago.

@rahull 2*80GB will always cost u more than a single 160GB even though the total space in both case is the same.And u'll req 2 if u wanna set up RAID.

@Kniwor Wats the total space u were getting after setting up RAID 0 on the 2*80GB.Will i be able to set up RAID 0 with a 160GB and a 250GB hdd.

@assasin
I am getting a total of 160Gb.

For your second question, In theory, you should be able to do it, in that case u will be using only 160Gb of the 250Gb HDD, so u will gt a total of 160*2=320Gb, and not (160+250)Gb, but the important thing is, this is in theory, actually you will not be able to do it as the integrated raid controller on motherboard would not do it, plus, it is not recommended at all.

For the second part of it, even if u had 2x80b HDD, there is a heavy performance penalty on RAID if the HDD's are not identical, I mean an old and new HDD is not suggested, or HDD's of different specifications lead to performance penalty.

@rahull
consider tis, a 160Gb 10000rpm HDD is outperformed by this setup. but now consider the price difference.

LOL..... man, for a thing costing 4200, rs 700/- is a good price difference, for something that's hardly been used, almost new, as compared to life of HDD, what's 40 days, it's in 5 years warranty, If u wanted to get a 2x80Gb it makes perfect sense, It's not like these are 1 year old HDD's or something, they're hardly used. U can use the extra 700/- to get an extra cool headphone pair or mouse.

I don't know what's the deal here, I've seen people quoting ridiculous prices for things, and for the same reason I quoted lowest I could, so that people don't complain, to reduce any kind of heating, I always think a deal should be fair, I appreciate the point made by you guys, and I hope i have fairly justified my price, I've always said, I'm cool with any kind of quoting in my thread, or any arguments u pose, because I believe, those who have issues with such things are trying to make an unfair deal.

Just signal me if anybody's interested, I'll just keep them otherwise, no big deal.

I've no probs shipping it, but if the shipping costs are high, it might not be viable, how do u usually ship products? one of my friend here in college lives in Raipur, I'll ask If he's going home anytime soon.

hi there, sure u can have the serial number
5PS0MR7S
5PS0NGW1

But I would prefer selling both the HDD's, you can check warranty on Seagate homepage, shipping might not be economically viable, u can decide for urself, I have no prob shipping it.
