I wish all the people out there a very "happy diwali".
I have 2 hdd's 80gb samsung PATA & 40gb samsung also PATA. Earlier i had linux & Win xp dual-boot. Now recently a strange problem happening. XP is working fine but suddenly a strangr noise comes from the hdd, the red light goes mad and 40gb hdd dissapears from My Computer.After then pc freezes. I had to manually restarts, scandisk goes on to repair sectors and file-system. Pc boots up i see both disks. again for some reason if a program hangs and i had to kill it via ctrl+alt+del--- the same process goes on .Each time it takes longer to boot windows and linux fails while checking for hardware. I reformatted 40gb to ntfs while xp is in FAT32. but the problem persists. I have done chkdsk on all drives-no error found. samsung diskdoctor found no errors either.
