[RFC] "Best Of Digit Forum" & forum tags

[RFC] is a tag that can be added to your posts that require comments on a subject. This may or may not include serious discussion. When a mod posts an RFC, it usually is regarding a forum change or action and should be taken as a feedback place. RFC = Request For Comments

[Serious] is a tag that can be added to a thread title which requires serious discussions and ONLY serious answers. Rest will be moderated as needed.

[Solved] [Open] are tags for Q&A type questions as this will be very beneficial for people in troubleshooting, buying advice and related threads.

Now Best Of Digit Forum is a stickyPost OR a Section where the best of threads(or posts) are hand picked and listed. This will cover all threads and all topics (even from chit chat;but not cavern) and will consist of community voted best threads and posts that contribute to the topic (read: OP delivers). I'll go ahead and admit that these are changes mimicked from reddit and that all any ANY kind of constructive criticism is invited for this. Please suggest changes or your comments on the said topics. The tags are in effect from now, any user who wish to make his current thread into any of the tags, please PM me.

I appreciate any such changes. [Open] and [Solved] tags which were long due. But since OP can't change the tag themselves, it basically creates a dependency on mods. (Can we allow OP to change the tags as they feel the need to?)

[Serious] tagged thread seems a place for trolls. Since they can easily try to challenge themselves to break the decorum of the thread and OP's intentions. But we can give it a chance.

I see no purpose of [RFC] tags though. Aren't the need to comment is the purpose of any and every thread? Instead I suggest but not limited to, tags like [Advice] and [Opinion] etc.

Yes, I agree that [Serious] is a tag where we might get trolls asking questions or reply to some. I can assure you that such offenses will be taken seriously and dealt with. Both the OP and the participants are responsible for the ON-TOPIC nature of the discussion and the question or title itself comes under moderation. (read: you can't post a question like [Serious] What if India unleash its nukes on China? )

[RFC] might not make sense on chit chat, but there are sections like pc components that require just a few inputs or suggestions. [Advice] and other generic tags can be used as per the user's wish (as of now there are no black lists for tags). [RFC] is more a standard practice among developers so I thought it might be familiar here too.

As for tag edit, I have yet to talk with the admin (we don't have power over that domain) and finalize on it. For now I think people can report a thread and ask it to be edited like how a thread is closed, I'm sure any one of us mods will do the edit.

[Closed]/[Solved] feature is available to Thread Starter in some Forums and its easy to implement too. I think its available in vBulletin for a long time and Admin has to turn it on only.
In other Forum, sometimes Thread Starters keep threads open even after providing confirmed correct solution. We have to advice them to close thread as [Solved] through feature available in Thread Tools or notify Mod. It doesn't work as intended and needs extra effort from Mods and Members to implement it properly.

Regarding other tags, [Serious] will attract a lot of trolls and its an extra work for Mods. [RFC] looks promising.

like best of digit forum idea, let's make a sticky thread and out all the good threads there

Its an good idea, but instead of make moderators do all work, Admin should give option to change their thread title.
