Resize Partition without affecting it??

While installing Ubuntu on my machine... i made 3 linux partitions... 1 had mount point "/", the other was swap, and for the third, i didnt know, so i kept mount point as "/home".
now, how do i access this partition??? i cant find it...

PS. If this seems silly, pls forgive but im a n00b when it comes to linux...

The 3rd partition is there but mounted at "/home", without knowing you have made a very good choice of making separate partition and mounting it on /home!!!
Just do sudo fdisk -l and will see the partitions.

Look like in Windows you have System folders.. In Linux all system files goes under "/" .. You can view the files but you cannot access them as normal user.. "/home" is just like My Documents . Here you save your docs/pics/music/videos and all saved settings are save here. You can access it as your Home and can edit files in it !

Swap is like temp folder.. It guess which pages will soon be needed, and start loading them into RAM.You cannot access the partition as far as I know

thank you for your quick replies but i have a problem now...
my root "/" partition is very huge... while i am unable to copy any file there... while the /home partition being small cannot accomodate all the documents i have...
I need to resize the partitions without affecting my data... I do not wish to re-install the OS again for this....

OK.
First Resize your / partition (shrink it) and then merge the new unallocated space with /home partition.
Its that simple.

Yes you can Use GParted Live CD for all partition needs.
If you have space then keep 7-10 GB for / and the rest for /home. It depends on your usage.

I tried using Gparted, but I am facing a error
It is allowing to shrink my "/" partition, but not allowing me to merge the freed space onto my "/Home" partition... How do I get more disk space for /Home ??

I saw it on your other thread bcoz the empty space should be side-by-side with your /home partition to merge the two. Just follow what T159 has said, though it will be veryyyy time consuming. Go watch some movies while doing it

To resize partition. I usually depend on the software for it is easy and safe for me, the reason is that i am not a specialist in computer What I use is EASEUS Partition Manager which did not damage any of my data and files during my usage.
