Hi guys,

I have a query regarding widescreen lcd monitor. I am gonna build a C2D based pc on weekend.

I got to know that onboard graphics cards do not support lcd mionitors. Is it true?

I am planning to go for a motherboard with onboard graphics and a widescreen lcd monitor. Should I buy a separate graphics card also?

Please help asap!

Regards,
Amit.

Not true... any onboard grfx will support the LCD but if weak onboard grfx then will have problem running the LCD on optimal Resolution...

Thanks for the reply cheeta. I have already referred the link u have mentioned. I did not get the answer to my quey there.

Anyway, I will reformat the question.

If I am going for E6550 with a decent onboard motherboard with inbuilt gfx card then will the display on lcd widescreen would be alright. Meaning there should not be the problems like extra blurr or no support for resolution etc.

Please help me on these lines.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Amit.

Soul reason for the thread was to sum up all these question to one thread... but its not my call rather its the mods call !!!

anyway just to answer the question...

I hav already suggested few option on that Sticky, as there are not much board with onboard grfx for FSB 1333 processors.....

Now still now good news with Intel G33 boards with onboard X3100, though I was told that DG33TL model would be priced bellow DG965RY model... !!! but still waiting for official News... !!! even if u get one of those, will mean no Overclocking for the procy...

No News for the ASUS G33 based either on indian Market !!!

So choise left is Rs. 5000/- + TAX XFX 650i Ultra couple with any Cheap 7xxx seris card like 7100 / 7300 for or under Rs. 3k !!!!

P.S. all these info was given on that thread !!!

:)

Yes, cheeta. I have read all that.

But in my query I have not asked anything abt compatible motherboards or so. The only thing I have asked is - Does onboard graphics card give good picture quality for the widescreen lcd or not?

I am not into gaming and so don't want to go for a separate graphics card. If inbuilt graphics does not give good performance then later I will have to go for separate graphics card which would be a costly affair.

That's why was asking...

Amit.

mention what motherboard u are looking at buying. Some integrated solutions do support 16:10 resolution settings, and some do not, be specific.

I am planning to go for P5K-VM or P5B-VM.

Pls suggest if these support the 16..10 resolution. Also I am going for Viewsonic widescreen 19'' lcd monitor.

Thanks,
Amit.

Im also in similar dilemma .. i want to buy a Widescreen 19" LCD .. but my graphics card is an old dusty MSI GeForce FX 5200 . Is buying the LCD a gud idea ?

Btw i heard somewhere with low end graphics cards ..one should use the D-Sub ouput for Widescreen LCD to get the optimal resolution and not the DVI .

So original poster might consider that as well . Hope that helps

Cheers.

Well my frnd, i dont think u read that sticky right...

with FSB 1333 processors u cant buy P5b-VM.... and about asus P35 based ones, i have doubt over their availibility and some high price issue tooo...

did u consider XFX 650i Ultra / P5N-E SLi / P5N32-E SLi / XFX 680i SLi ?? with even a 8400 GS would give ur LCD a better flatform !!!

Dear Choto Cheeta,

with due respect to u, i guess u are not reading my query properly.

I am not in a search of a motherboard.

My query is - if I use any of these motherboards (P5V/VM or P5B-VM) then whether widescreen lcd monitor will give the same quality of display for inbuilt display card as that of a separate graphics card?

Pls note that I am not into gaming at all.

Will u pls reply to this if u have any info?

Thanks and Regards,
Amit.

all run fine with with the Highest Resolution supported 1440x900 run 720p HD without any issue... !!!

also Tested with my frds lappy came with X3100 based GAM (HP Lappy mobide G965 X3100) run fine with its output too !!!

Hey Choto Cheeta,

Budget is around 7k. But I am ready to extend it till 9k if there is compelling reason.

Please suggest me what you want to.
