query about motherboard

hello
i have a gateway nv53 laptop.
now it doesn't boot ,when ever I press "on" button , the power light starts to glow and the light on the dvd drive blinks twice after which it nothing happens and the bios never show up.
i thought it was a memory issue, so i went to a local acer service center, where the guys informed me that the motherboard was dead and it will cost me around 15 thousands just to change into a new motherboard. i thought that something was fishy.
is the cost of new AMD m880 chipset around rupees 15 thousand?
please help me.

I think the dealers quote 10K+ on laptop motherboards i also got a similar quote in ASSAM for an HP laptop its not worth replacing the MB of the laptops
I would advise u to get it checked by a few more reputed service centers u can also try ebay for the MB
