I have following queries related to RAM?

Could anyone please explain them?

1.] whats the difference between DDR PC 2100, DDR PC 2700, DDR PC 3200 & DDR PC 4000 RAM modules?

2.] How to determine the frequency of you RAM module if it's not written on the module. I mean how to determine if it's 266 MHz or 400 MHz?

3.] What will be the inpact on performance of using two DDR RAM modules of different frequency, say 400 MHz and 266 MHz?

4.] Is 533 MHz RAM module a DDR2 RAM module?

Ok, lets try to answer with my limited knowledge..

1. All have different frequencies thereby varying performances.

2. You can go to BIOS and find out memory frequency.

3. I never had a chance to benchmark them side by side since I used both types of RAM in different config. But of course there has to be some difference provided if there is no bottleneck and the application you are using. Otherwise why would we bother! If you use two modules of different frequencies then the system will use lowest one i.e., 266MHz if you use one 400 and one 266

4. PC 4200 is 533 MHz DDR2 RAM

1. Yea all hav different frequencies. BTW all you mentioned are ancient.
2. Check your BIOS or use any Softie like cpu-z
3. Both ll run at the lower frequency if u system supports both.
4. Yup it is ddr2. 4200/8 = 525 =~533mhz

1 tip: To find out the approx frequency from the numbering just divide the number by 8. you ll get the approx frequency.
ex

6400/8 = 800mhz ddr2 ram

if the money is the constraint then,

which one is better option and why?
--> 1GB Corsair 667Mhz or 1GB Kingston 800MHz both priced Rs.1200/-
