Right off the assembly line
hii all,
i have a HCL laptop with the configuration Intel pentium M 1.6 ghz, 512 MB RAM and intel 915 chipset. The problem is that in the system configuration section in control panel, the system displays the clock speed as 600 MHZ. I tried with Si Soft sandra and it also displays the clock speed as 600 MHZ.

On comparing it with another laptop having Intel 1.4 GHZ procesor and 256 MB ram, my system displayed poor performance in processor test in Si Soft Sandra and also poor game play in Need For Speed, which otherwise runs fine on the 1.4 Ghz laptop...

Please tell me the solution for the problem....

There is no need for panic. The Pentium M processors support speedstep technology which makes the processor run at a slower speed at less or no load to improve the battery life. Currently in the power options from Control Panel, it would be set to some profile which is max. battery. You would need to change it, to make the processor run at max everytime. Alternatively you can also use softwares like RightMark CPU Clock utility to tinker with the settings.
