Problem with Monitor...

hey guys,i seem to have a problem with my monitor...i got this Dell 198WFP monitor 2 weeks back...From the past 2 days,when i power on the system,instead of the display coming on normally,the monitor shows entering power save mode and goes into standby...i know the system is booting normally but the display keeps behaving like this..The monitor is a brand new one...i dont know where the fault is coming from...help me please....

try your old monitor on the PC and see
test it in another pc if possible
carry it to your friend place in original package to test it
take it back to the dealer and opt for warranty.if the dealer direct u to the service center or to the distributor, force them to take it. these dealer sometime just know how to sell and make you do the hardwork later on
