Problem with installing windows

When I tried to boot with winXP CD, the screen becomes blank after displaying setup is inspecting computer configuration........y this.......

using athlonxp 1600.....256 MB RAM....ASUS motherboard.........this occured very rcently.........

CD not able to be read change media or drive whichever is faulty...........
other wise try to change ram... certainly some hardware malfunction........
next step will be hdd.........

first format ur HDD on an another PC

try with another RAM,if problem continues...try to replace ur hard disk.

I've been facing the same problem, but it installs fine when I boot from the boot floppies, then it continues to install properly from the CD. How come the RAM is not afffecting the applications running????
