problem with ads in firefox in linux

hi guys i am new to digit, i have a problem firefox in linux.i am new to linux.i installed ubuntu, its great but its showing a lot of ads. i have a 14 inch crt monitor which gives me a lot of eye strain.and ads chew up my bandwith.is there any plugin or software for firefox to stop ads atleast partly.thanks everyone.

Yes there is an adblock for Firefox
*addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Use the above link USING firefox , install it and then choose Easylist (USA) as the filter subscription. Now ads are Histroy !
