Recently, I've purchased a HP laptop for my office use. But whenever I try to download and instal the security updates from the MS site, it asks for validation tool for windows, and I had to abort the idea of updating. On cancellation of such installation attempt, I see that the updates have been installed including installation of IE 7, and in the 'Add or Remove' windows I noticed that Win Validn Tool is installed, but even after that installation, Microsoft Warning message 'you may be a victim of software counterfeiting' remains on Welcome screen and in the Taskbar with a Blue-Star icon. Would you please give me some way out of this hitch.

Legen-wait for it-dary!
It alerts you since its not legal. Buy genuine windows. That should stop the alerts.

Did your HP laptop come with windows, or did you install pirated windows yourself? if it came with windows, contact your vendor and ask him for the windows cd + original cd key.
