Hey frens,
Whenever I try to access my Internet Explorer. A message appears which says
"The procedure entry point InterentGetSecurityInfoByUrlW could not be located in the dynamic link of WININET.dll"
I tried to reinstall the explorer but again a message appeared which tells to first uninstall it from Add or Remove Programs. However I am unable to find uninstall icon there.

Which version of IE you using? I hope its IE7 because such errors generally come with IE7!

For the uninstall problem do the following

Open the registry

Go to the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Right click on Internet Explorer and select New\String Value

Name the new string InstalledByUser

For its value enter your user account name

Close Regedit

IE uninstall will now work. Here is a solution found on net:

Just download a simple IE fixing program *windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm to get back to IE6, then start another fresh IE 7 install or be with IE6 only.

Can't gurantee whether it will work or not!

I think you have installed IE before restarting the PC as suggested by another application installation.
WININET.dll might have got corrupted.

Start > run > sfc /scannow

Windows will scan and ask for Windows CD if any files got corrupted.

Seems the DLL file is missing or gone corrupt! Do this:

Extract the original "wininet.dll" file from XP setup CD. U'll get the file in I386 folder, it'll be compressed and will hv the name wininet.dl_.
U can use 7-Zip to extract it or just open command prompt and goto I386 folder and give following command:

expand wininet.dl_ wininet.dll

Now copy this file to %windir%\System32 folder and register the file by giving following command in RUN dialog box:

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wininet.dll

Hey,
I dont know whether i have done some mistake while copying ......... but after copying to the location. I tried to register the above command. However i was not able to do so as a message appeared which is follow:
"The file was loaded, But DllRegister Service entry point was not found. The file can not be registered."
