Printer suggestions please !

Here are my needs:

• I print lots of assignments. Mostly black and white. But colors would look good on them too. So it could be either a B/W or color.

• MFD not required.

• Printing cost should be <=50paise per page. That's what people at my univ charge

• Budget=~5K
• I use linux. Hope there are no compatibility issues.

Xerox is providing B/w Laserjet Printer for about 5k... Laserjet printers have much lower running cost than Inkjets and are also much faster... You can check with the vendor about Linux drivers etc...

I think even Samsung has one for 5k...

HP has basic model at 7k...

Yes, get a laser since your usage will be high.

Xerox - 3117 would be a great choice. It's about 4.5K. Great vfm!

I think so! Xerox is generally very good with lasers

Xerox has a model for > than 4.5. The first toner cartridge supplied with it may not give the normal no. of prints. Plus for most of the laser models, you can get it refilled for about Rs.350 to 400/-. But get it done from a reliable firm so that they will use good quality toner powder and you will get clear prints though of course not as good as from an original.
