prb with DVD WRITER

i recently purchased a SONY dvd writer
the prb is it doesn't works on my machine while it works on other machines

configuration of my pc is
cpu - P4 2.2 Ghz
Motherboard - 845 via chipset and 256 MB Ram

What is "it doesn't work" mean?...it doesn't power up or it powers up but doesn't read or it reads but doesn't write..."it doesn't work" means many things...specify the exact problem.

try UPDATING your BIOS also.. and yes Explain your Problem

Maybe there is no power being supplied... Check tat
