Unfortunately this rig is for work only. I have my personal rig (as in signature) and my Y500 lappy for gaming needs....

16GB i7 is pretty insane for data mining. unless u are planning to share the desktop between multiple users and/or want to install multiple database in this.

here is one tip: if you want maximum database performance. max out the RAM to 64 GB or just 32GB and prepare a 16+GB RAMDisk on it, then you will have to install you databases in this drive. As the result, instead of accessing database from the mechanical disk, it will be accessed from RAM itself, with 20-30x speed of the HDD.

u may also want to buy a good ssd for storing the RAM disk image file, but don'[t forget to take regular backups, because everything being in RAM, will be lost if the power goes down.

Thanx for the suggestion. I will eventually top this rig to 64GB RAM and add SSD. Just doing things one-by-one.

@monkey: you running a in-house production db for some pharma/military client? :D Congos on the rig!

i think it will be the observation center for some secret military satellite......

That's gud ones.....

But then this will completely blow your mind - the company whose s/w I will be using choose 32 CORE CPU with 96GB RAM and 15k SAS HDDs for evaluation!!! I am aiming for that system and then I will show it here....although after a year or so.....

Let me guess - something from the Infosphere universe?!? or something else from IBM's folio? HANA? Can't be Exadata or Palantir! And what OS is going to drive this? Windoze I presume? ;)

Nah! They would need computers of a different kind - something where storage accessibility performance is not driven by RAMDisks!! :p ;)

Why would you need a back pic? And the fridge closer to the wall it's tough to take one.

Not the complete back is like that. Only at the bottom of the back of the fridge it's like that. I tried rotating the pics and saving but didn't help.
^^ nope some of them are completely sealed.
Completely?

Bought New Bajaj Discover 100T yesterday @ 57k. Post the pic soon..
