bought seagate 640 Gb (32MB) ...model no . ST3640323AS for 3.9k

went to buy WD640AAKS ...only AACS was available for 3750/- ...so decided to go for seagate cos of

1)32 MB cache
2)much better service support than WD

and yes it seems the rupee falling against dollar has effect on price cos two weeks before the same WD 640 gb was available @ 3650/- ...in the same shop

Seagate service is better WD no way i think u never used WD product i have very bad experience with Seagate u can't compare with WD.And performance is better than Seagate.

well obviously it depends on the place ..at my place ..that is in chennai ...western digital HDD takes 2 weeks to RMA .....and persons sitting at WD are not customer oriented .....while in case of seagate ...things are much more easier ...

i have used WD and seagate ..both and found ..seagate services much better atleast in my place ...and thats the case with most of the place ...

and may be u had a bad experience with seagate ...i can agree to that ..but so far people around me have used WD and found its service not upto the mark though the one WD i used worked fine before i sold it ...so far seagate problems get sovled for us easily ...hence i went for it ...

but performance is dependent on the model u are buying ..not on company AFAIK ...

I second that, atleast in chennai(Accel frontline) SD has proven and known for their better service,hardly takes 4 to 7 days for the replacement. But i can't conclude on product reliability though as my recently bought 250GB HDD despite after 2 replacements still developing bad clusters :(

i guess its bad experience for me and people around me ....but then thats the case with every product some has bad experience and some has good ..anyways i m quite satisfied with seagate ...so far no problems with them neither in service nor in drives ..so u can say its personal choice ...

and 640 gb (32 mb ) offers performs better ..but higher seek times than WD 640 GB AAKS..and its definately better than AACS model ...

@Off topic:
Kolkata buyers always look for nVIDIA solution rather than ATi..:D
Is there any specific reason?
