Possible 3 RAM sticks work as 2 RAM in dual channel and one in single channel mode??

I'm not sure where this one fits in... As i didn't see any sections related to memory i'm putting it here...

I have Core i5-2500k
Asus P8P67m motherboard
and
Kingston 2x2 GB DDR3-RAM running in dual channel.

Now my question is,

I buy one more stick of Kingston 4GB DDR3-RAM, then can I put 2x2 Gb together to work in dual channel and the new 4gb in a single channel mode??
This means I wont change the layout of the RAM's which are previously installed, however would add one more stick into my RAM slot...

Please share your views regarding this one, as my bro wants to increase his RAM to 8Gb from 4gb....

This called Flex mode / memory access ;-) which results in both dual- and single- channel operation across the whole of DRAM memory.

it will work as you expected..since Tri channel is not possible in P67 chipset.

Thank you guys my primary objective is completed.. :toast:

However If i put the 4x2 together and 2gb in a separate slot will the it be working 6gb as dual and 2gb as single channel??
