Plz suggest a wireless router for cablebb

I have cable bb connection. Recently I have bought a netbook. Now want to have a wlan through I can share the net conn.

Plz also tell me whether I can configure the router to get connected whenever its switched on or do I need to connect through the machine I am using.

The netbook supports b/g/n. Will want to connect the desktop through ethernet. Will that be okay?
