Thnx frnds.....

Actually scenerio is dat I already hve both 128 @266MHz and 256 @ 266MHz...n using both of them 4 last 1 yr...but now my 256 @ 266MHz crashed..... n it is in warranty period....so i can get a replacement 4 it...

So plss help dat whether now i ask my dealer to replace it as 256 DDR @ 266 or 400 MHz.....also i dont think so 256 wid 266MHz come in the market....so by deafault i think my dealer gimme a 256 @ 400MHz RAM....I think so........

So dats y asking which 1 to get frm my dealer 256 DDR @ 266MHz or 256 DDR @ 400MHz.......In case if i 'll get 256 DDR @ 400MHz ,,,,i think my 128 DDR @266MHz...may go to junk yard...as i dont thing 2 RAM's wid diff frequency work together......

So help me frnds finally which 1 to opt??????

^^I have found out that your chipset does not support ddr 400.Maximum is ddr 333mhz

Go here Intel® 845GV Chipset

UR mobo does not supports 400Mhz ram....so no point getting those...
better get 266 mhz ram only..because even if it would had supported 400Mhz ...it would had run at slowest ram on mobo..i.e 266Mhz....and if its replcement i am damn sure that the vendor will no give u 400mhz ram...:D..and if he gives he will charge u more ..or if doesnt then he is DUMB seller

get 400 mhz one and I assure u that It will work with 266 Mhz module but it will also run with 266 mhz speed. So ask ur dealer for 400 mhz one as replacement

Thats right but I think this will occur some kind of prob as no one prepared for bad luck if the 400 MHz will try run on 333MHz

Re: Plss help again...Is it better??

Thnx all of u frnd....

Actually the RAM which my vendor has given 2 me as a replacement is labelled as Simtronics 256 DDR @ 333MHz in replacement of my older Hynix 256 DDR Ram,,,,,,

But when I start my PC only with dat Simtronics Ram it shows 266Mhz...
n now pc runs very much fine with 384mb(256+128) of ram.....

But 1 thing I am not clear dat...although my both hynix 128 and Simtronics 256 ram working properly....is it better to run 2 different brand of ram simultaneously???

I didn't said my 2 vendor when he is giving me the replaced RAM of Simtronics...dat I want hynix 256 ram only as my previous one coz i already fed up with late replacement of my ram dat is of 10 days...n if i again
said 2 him this thing...it'll take more time 4 replacement....

So my both hynix 128+Simtronic 256 properly....also they r in warranty period....So frnds help...whether i hve to retain using this configuration or again go to my vendor saying that my old 256 ram is of hynix so gimme only hynix ram....

Wa8ing 4 ur helps...n thanx in advance

Depak, although your Simtronics 256 DDR is @ 333MHz your hynix 128 DDR is @ 266MHZ so when you use them together your PC will run at the slowest of the 2 (in other words it will run @ 266MHZ) but if you REMOVE the Hynex 128mb ram and run the PC with ONLY the Simtronics 256 DDR is @ 333MHz you will see that it is running at 333MHZ.

But if you also want the Hynix 128mb in your PC (along with the Simtronics 256 DDR )than you will have to make do with 266MHZ. So the answer to your question is even if your vendor gives you a Hynix 256MB @ 333MHZ you will still face the same problem.

So if you want to be able to run at 333MHZ than BOTH the sticks have to be of the SAME i.e. 333MHZ if not than your PC will run at the slowest of the 2 sticks.

My suggestion is use the entire ram at 266Mhz, given the amount of ram is less, u will most probably first have problem with amount of ram, and then only will u see a a slowness due to bandwidth. However If u would have asked the same question in another scenario, e.g. 1Gb ram @800Mhz or 1.5Gb ram @533Mhz, I would have said 1Gb ram @800Mhz. But the extra 128Mb will benefit you in you case.

Me too thinks that get MORE ram than FASTER, at least in your case. Speed matters a lot when it comes to gaming and such, but for regular multitasking the More the merrier...
