My BUDGET is max. 15 K.

1.) I want the BEST in this budget.
2.) I want to purchase 1 GB RAM, so pls suggest which will be the BEST and should I go for 2x512 or single 1 GB RAM?
3.) I want Integrated graphics.
4.) I want Intel Pentium processor. Is AMD is better than intel?

So pls suggest the things.

I suggest AMD. and for 15k u can go for the following,

AMD A64 3000+ Socket 939 - 6500/-
MSI RS482 M2 - 4900/-
Kingston/Transcend 512*2 DDR 400 - 5500/-

Total around 17k ..dats 2k more than your budget. U can save on RAM by going for HYNIX chipset ram but make sure u get the original ones and get them with atleast 3 years warranty. And go for 2*512 and use them in Dual Channel Mode.

thnx a lot buddy :D

But is AMD is better than intel?
I was planning to go for P4.

is intel costly than AMD?
if not then which specifi model of P4 i shoudl go for?
I mean P4 2 GHz with HT or ne else?

and what about ASUS mobo?
In nother thread ASUS has the highest no. of Votes.
Is it also costly?

AMD is better than Intel in gaming and is almost at par at other stuff such as a/v encoding etc. Intel is costly as well and if u want the latest chipset board in Intel it will be very costly and u will require ddr2 ram as well. AMD is giving u amazing value for money.

OK!
And what about mobo?

u suggested MSI, is ASUS very costly?
if not which model i can go for under my budget!

thnx for ur so much help.....

This particular MSI model i.e RS482 is the revised version of the HOT selling RS480M2 ... it has an onboard ati x300 gpu which is capable enough for playable frames at low/medium settings. I dont know if ASUS has any board dats available in India based on the same ATI chipset. I suggest MSI coz its been tried n tested by so many people now.

thnx a lot man! :D

Now I hv decided following 2:

MSI RS482 M2 - 4900/-
512*2 DDR 400 - 5500/-

But not sure about the processor!
Can u tell me which model in P4 is equivalent to AMD A64 3000+ Socket 939 and how mush it cost?

thnx again!

The Hardware Labs
Intel Pentium 4 630 (2mb l2 cache , 800 mhz fsb , 64 bit enabled , ht enabled) will cost around 8300/-

ok!

So it doesnt fall under my budget.

Can u tell me which P4 models comes under my budget?

I mean of 5K cost approx.?

is 2.8 GHz falls under it?

If not then I think it will be wiser to go for ur suggested AMD processor :D

You wont get a 2.80 ghz lga-775 processor now. U will get 3.0 ghz or more. Why are u running after Intel man ?? I was using an Intel Pentium 4 520 (2.8 ghz , 1 mb l2 , 800 mhz fsb) + Intel Orig D915GAV board uptil last week. I just upgraded my sys to AMD 3000+ and its amazing. Intel ke bahut saare lafde hai yaar .. ull have to get ddr2 ram if u want the latest chipsets and ASUS/MSI boards based on Intel 945/955 chipsets are damn expensive.

lol... you cant get a s939 mobo and intel processor....

go for 2*512 Mb ram rather than a single 1Gb stick.... u can run dual channel and that a HELL lot of difference... and let me tell u the word HELL is justified because the difference is too much....

Mohit, the price of A64 3000+ is around Rs.6000 here in Kolkata. So if he checks the market then he might get the best deal on that processor.
