My config is P4 1.7 Ghz, 384MB SDRAM. For a month or so, my system is often crashing. it just often reboots. also when i try to install new programmes, it shows up error telling me tht the setup file is corrupted.IS the problem due to faulty RAM. I changed RAM 2 months back and i suspect RAM is the prob. pls help

Have you tried reinstaling your OS . If so then goto control panel open the system menu click advanced and enter startup and recovery menu in that disable Automatic reboot on system failure . this will stop your system from rebooting often but it will show you a Blue screen with some errors . note that error and post it in this thread . Then i may be able to tell you whats wrong with your system .

many a times changing the ram leads to blue screens and system crashes .. try reinstalling your os and updating all your drivers and os. if u still get the errors download and make a bootable cd of memtest86 and boot your pc with it and let it check your ram for errors for atleast 3-4 hours. if the ram is found to be the culprit get it replaced.

Can Harddisk be a problem? ALso i noticed when ever some RAM activitity is going on, its when the system crashes. moreover i get no bluescreens. Just plain crash.

check your ram first .. i dont think its a hdd problem. u can always scan it for bad sectors.

hey dude

guess what even i had the same problem weeks back . so let me tell ya step by step . first it might even be your hard disk . so try installing in a new hard disk if you get the error again . then try swapping your RAM if still the problem persisits go ahead and give ur motherboard for service or buy a new one . cas when i had the same problem i diagnosed that its due to my mobo . so i bought a new one now its fine . Hey before buying a new mobo check everyother possiblities . page fault error occurs mainly when a program refers to an invalid memory location . so i suggest you to first try swapping ur RAM with ur friends.

All the best .

1st disable the automatic restart option then note down the error code and then post here

that can give a clearer picture of wat the problem is ..........
