Hi all,

I want to buy a PCI Express DirectX 9 graphics card (preferably nVidia) having shader model 3.0. My Budget is 2k. This will be mostly for casual gaming. I dont really have time to play newer games. I just want to enjoy my old game collection at max settings. Please suggest.

My PC config is:

Intel mother board(sorry forgot name:D), but it has got ATI Xpress 200 chipset, and PCI Express slot for GPU.
3.0 GHz HT processer
768 MB RAM.

I am also thinking to buy 1 GB RAM, any idea about current cost?

Well after checking that 8400 GS isnt good, i have decided to increase my budget and buy 8600 GT, can u tell the cost and name? Also, which brand is good, MSI,BIG,Corsair?

And whats DDR3 version of gfx card? My Motherboard is Intel D101 GGC, it supports DDR RAM, will DDR3 version work?

OK then 9500 GT is final. Which of the following should I buy:

ZoTac ZT-95TEH2P-FSL 9500GT 512MB DDR2 Rs 3250
ZoTac ZT-95TEK2P-FSL 9500GT 1GB DDR2 Rs 3850

Palit 9500GT 256MB DDR3 Rs 4150
Palit 9500GT Super 512MB DDR2 - Super Rs 3500
Palit 9500GT 1GB DDR2 Rs 3550

I have highlighted my prefered versions. How much will 1 GB DDR2 perform against 512 GB DDR2? And what about 256 MB DDR 3? Is it worth 4150 Rs? And which is better? Zotac or Palit?

Right off the assembly line
DDR3 cards are a lot faster than there DDR2 counterparts. So i suggest u 2 go 4 a DDR3 memory based card.

Also paying more for a 1 GB card does not make sense unless u play on a very large display (2048x1536 or more) as it requires a lot of textures to be loaded into the memory. And an under-powered card like 9500 GT can't make full and efficient use of 1 GB RAM.

9500 GT 256 DDR3 is faster than both 512MB/1GB DDR2 cards.
Also about brands in India,
Go 4 XFX Cards as they are better than any other brand available right now in India.

Hope u get it well..!

hmmm i will go with 9500 gt DDR2, i dont want to spend too much on my old PC. Also, will my onboard ATI chipsets create any problems with Nvidia card? I have read somewhere that ATI motheboards and Nvidia cards have some issues?
