Description is available at consumermate.com.
Acer Aspire One 533
Acer (India) website does not show this model. However I checked up with Acer officials over phone. The model is available in India (with 2GB RAM and Windows 7 Starter) at 20K + Taxes. It is over budget. I thought of it as consumermate.com shows price around 17K.

Now I am thinking of Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3C @ 15K+taxes. Please suggest.
Following is the link-

For optical drive, go for a Samsung External DVD-Writer which will cost around Rs.2000/-

If you consider buying a Netbook, let me tell you that if you'll pay more attention to the screen, you'll suffer from headache and soon need to wear spectacles. I sold my acer aspire one because it was too difficult for me to spend more time on the netbook. Using Microsoft Office on a netbook again will be a pain.

^ right said.

Mini netbook is usefull only for ocassional use or during travelling. long use is not comfortable due to crampted keyboard, small touchpad, small screen, slower processing...

Thanks amandeep and 6x6 for your advices. I have two desktops and I do not need a laptop. Sometimes I feel need of something portable and bigger than my mobile (E63). So this is for occasional use only and laptop is too big for me.
Anyways, I have finalized with dealer: Lenovo S-10-3 @ 16K including VAT. Specs- N475/ 10.1" / 1GB DDR3/ 160GB/ DOS / Camera / Bluetooth / 6 Cell Battery and carry bag worth Rs.1K.
1.5K extra for upgrade to 2GB.
Tomorrow evening I shall purchase it. If someone has any suggestion, please do write in before I buy it.

Model no.:

S-10-3C or S-10-3S ?

Only 3S has N475 but doesn't come with DOS.

Just for info, have a look at this thread:

@ modder - The dealer's pamphlet says model as S-10-3.
I shall check it up tomorrow.

Thanks for the link providing a nice comparison. I shall now re-consider for Asus 1201T. But I feel Asus is not in good books at thinkdigit/forums.

1201T within 18.5K? Pl tell me from where I can purchase at this price.
I checked up with Asus Sales Deptt at Delhi as well as their dealer here in Ludhiana (Punjab). 22K+VAT nothing less.

 Last time I checked it was 18.5K here in Kolkata. I bought 1215T for ~21K. Why are they asking so much for 1201T:evil:?

Try telling them, why would you even go 1201T if there's superior 1215T and Dell Inspiron M101z at the same quoted price:-??

Now I think the prices have gone seriously up as BitFang lists 1201T's Price at Rs. 21,790/- (Incl. tax)

See if they can get you a better deal from them or one of their partners:)

In the meantime I will contact/mail Rashi in my area, & see what they quote:evil:. But that too will take atleast 1 more day to get a reply.

And if you don't wanna go through all these hassle, settle for Lenovo. Its a fair deal. But I advise you not to go Acer.

Its because of the 1366x768 resolution on the 12" display, I recommended 1201T, it'll hurt your eyes less than a 10.1" (1024x768) res. disp. & you'll get more/bigger work area i.e., more tabs in taskbar/more icons on desktop etc.

Rashi Peripherals has quoted 23400/- for 1201T.

They were surprised when I told your 1215T purchase price at Kolkata . They asked for model no (not series no. i.e. 1215T). Anyway, now not my cup of tea at this price.

Yes, 1368x768 on 12" will be much comfortable than 1024x600 at 10.1" but it is over budget.

So, settling for Lenovo.
BTW there was a misprint on Lenovo Dealer's pamphlet.
The processor is N455 not N475.
Will it make considerable difference?

Lokesh

Right off the assembly line
I guess difference between processor N455 and N475 is only speed.
N455 has clock frequency of 1.66 GHz while the N475 has 1.83 GHz.
performance wise, I think, it shouldn't make much difference.
both of them support DDR3.

Still for info, show them this (if you want to:smile:):

(some portions blurred for privacy & and that extra 320 is for an 8GB Kingston usb drive without warranty:mrgreen:)

Model no./SKU Codes/Part Nos. EeePC Product Sheet:

In you case, the full product code would be 1201T-BLK017W

If you can't afford 1215T or any other 12" Netbook, please at least go for Asus 1015PEM which is a Dual Core Atom N550. Though the GPU is still Intel 3150.

Going for Single core atom at this moment not worth it.

Thanks everyone for help.
Thanks modder for your support. I gave your invoice details to Rashi people. They promised to revert but did not.

However I have purchased Lenovo 10-3C @ 17K (includes upgrade to OEM 2GB DDR3, mouse and original Carry Bag worth Rs. 1K)

I have now adjusted to small screen and slower speed (compared to my desktop). It does strain without anti-glare screen but with anti-glare screen there is no problem even for long hours.

Another question: I have installed WIN7Ultimate with aero disabled and have set it to best performance. Will XP Pro SP3 run smoother than the above set-7up?
If possible, please give a link which suggests those Windows Services which can be safely disabled/set to manual to increase performance.
