I yesterday recommended an Intel Core2 duo e6300, Intel® Desktop Board DG965RY and 1 gb ram to a friend. Can anyone tell me if this combination is good or not ? I am very keen to know about the performance of this motherboard.

Also, my friend wants a graphics card. His budget is Rs 5000. Will I recommend him the nvidia geforce 6600GT? If there is anything better please tell me.

Thanks in advance.

I suggest, Go for E4300 and get 2GB RAM. It will better option.

Also, since DG965RY has onboard GFX, play games on it for few more days because ATi will be launching the new Graphic Cards and i think there will be a drop in DX 10 cards. :)

Original Intel mobos come locked so you can't overclock 'em.... If you aren't an overclocker, then too you should look out for a Gigabyte/MSI/ASUS board based on the same chipset, just because these brands are known for their performance and features...

6600 GT is being phased out, so, wait for some more time, With the launch of the Big bad DX10 nVidia cards, the price of the 7600GT will drop.. Then go for the 7600GT .. Best bang for the money... :D

Certainly less than what it is right now. ;) Should save you anywhere from 500 to 1200 bucks.

If you aint a overclocker, the Motherboard is good enough :) If you can find DG965WH for few bucks more...go for that.

DG965RY
1. no RAID
2. no S/PDIF
3. STAC9227 5.1 Ch. HD audi

Intel DG965WH
1. RAID 0/1/10/5
2. STAC9271D 7.1 Ch. HD audio
3. optical S/PDIF out. Supports Intel Viiv Technology.

i would suggest E6300 with 1 gig RAM or even 2 gig if he's a power user .

also 8600 GT is available for 9k n 8500GT for 6k then go for em , don't go for 7 Series GFX cards .

also , motherboards from Foxconn n ECS r very good n are cheap too , go for them if u can find em .

He doesn't need raid, nor does he need spdif. He's got a creative Inspire 2.1 set.
BTW, Intel DG965WH supports Intel ViiV

I have also recommended him the ViewSonic VX1945wm LCD Monitor. Is it good? Website- *www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx1945wm/

Are you sure ? A 7600 GT costs around 7.5-8 k .. I don't see a reason nVidia will price a 8600 GT at 9 k and 8500 at 5k .. That will kill the market for the 7xxx series ... I don't think nVdia wants to lose money from that market...

Yeah i have the same combo (E6300 and DG965RY and 1Gb transcend 533MHz RAM + Seagate 160Gb SATA I)...and should i say its kick a**.

I am playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R at 1024x768 at medium settings for graphics(static lighting is used) and maximum settings for processor at over 28 FPS. The game looks awesome.

Go for this combo if u are not an overclocker and balance out the stability of ur system.

Do tell me the current prices of Mobo, processor and RAM.
